![]() ![]() ![]() Hargreeves raises these children to become a superhero team to fight evil. Each of these children has a special supernatural gift. He is only able to get seven of the forty-three children. A man by the name of Sir Reginald Hargreeves contacts the women in order to buy as many of the children as possible. This story begins on October 1st 1989 when 43 women give birth to children, despite not having been pregnant at the start of that day. I will be discussing major plot points and character development of Season 1, so if you haven’t watched Season 1, go watch it, or be prepared to have things spoiled for you. With that being said I’d like to give a little explanation of the series as a whole, and then analyze my favorite character Klaus, his DnD alignment, and why I think Chaotic Neutrals end up being fan favorite characters. Umbrella Academy had a bit more wiggle room as it is a ten episode series with episodes running for approximately an hour each. This sounds like it would be a complete mess especially in movie format, running at only 128 minutes, but it is extremely well-produced and entertaining to watch. The world of Stardust includes a woman who is actually a star that has fallen out of the heavens, princes searching for their father’s gem in order to become the next king, witches who hope to use the “star” as to maintain eternal youth, and even a cross-dressing pirate captain who’s first true love is theatre. Both also embody extremely weird premises that are successful because they are beautifully handled. While the shows are completely different genres, as Umbrella Academy is an American superhero/science-fiction black comedy, both products gave me the same sense of wonder and amusement. For one reason or another, this show reminded me of the 2007 romantic fantasy adventure film Stardust. ![]() We are incredibly excited to announce the new limited edition The Umbrella Academy: The Séance Maquette, available for pre-order here!
